Interview With A Pig Bitch – Bianca Barnett
The lovely Bianca Allaine Barnett took some time out of her day to talk to Not For The Cool Kids. Find out about the pains of being Pig Bitch and what’s next for this up and coming scream queen!
Not For The Cool Kids: What films are you currently working on/considering/auditioning for?
Bianca Allaine Barnett: I have no idea just yet, which sucks. Last year was a little disappointing because I didn’t get to work as much as I wanted to. Though, I received an abundant amount of press and air time so ironically it was my most successful year to date. I suppose it was weird to just “sit back” and not actively be on set. Let’s hope 2012 is my busiest yet!
NFTCK: You’ve appeared at several horror fan conventions. How would you describe the overall fan reaction?
BAB: Generally speaking, people are super cool! Some want to talk to me because of my work and others have no clue who I am but want to hit on me. Usually the men are either quite nervous when they have nothing to worry about or strangely cocky when they have everything to worry about. Either way, one of my favorite aspects of this job is meeting fans of the genre! People watching is a hobby of mine- great opportunity for character study.
NFTCK: Do you have a favorite B-Movie/Cult Film?
BAB: I love movies about Sasquatch and movies from the 70s/80s that takes place in the forest, like Just Before Dawn.
NFTCK: What actor/actress & director would you be most excited to work with?
BAB: I want to work with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, but then, who doesn’t? I want to be a guest on Conan O’Brien’s show. That would be the bee’s knees!
NFTCK: Acting and Modeling can be an very demanding career. How has this affected your personal life?
BAB: All of it puts a huge strain on my personal life because I put so much into my work and studies (I am also in school full-time with a 4.0 GPA). I make time for my husband, Dixie and Molly (our dogs), and our families, but outside of that, my social life suffers tremendously. My parents are both workaholics, so I think that mentality stuck with me.
NFTCK: What type of roles do you prefer, A villain, scream queen, victim, heroine, or sex symbol?
BAB: Villain is my favorite! Sex symbol is fun but it can be a bit one dimensional. What about a sexy villainess? Or an antihero? I also enjoy playing troubled people, weirdos, and sarcastic jerks. I always think of myself as a character actor more than a leading lady.
NFTCK: Albino Farm required you to wear prosthetics. How long did it take the prosthetics to be applied?
BAB: At least three or four hours to put on and 30-45 minutes to take it off. I was generally first to get “made up” pretty on set and therefore had the awesomely good times of wearing the five pound prosthetics for 12-15 hours a day for about three weeks straight. Needless to say, I was a pretty grumpy goose during filming but it ended up being worth the suffering.
NFTCK: Would wearing prosthetics influence your decision to accept a role?
BAB: It depends on the depth of the role and quality of the script (i.e., the scrilla).
NFTCK: If you were able to play any role in the history of film, what role would you take and why?
BAB: I would love to portray a silent film star like Clara Bow, Louise Brooks, or Barbara La Marr in a bio picture. Or Lestat in Interview with the Vampire. The costumes and sets in that film are amazing! Plus I’d get to be bad. Really bad.
NFTCK: What have you found to be the biggest challenge of breaking into acting?
BAB: Getting people to actually make a movie or keep their promises. There is a lot of talk but not a lot of action. I need an agent soon to find more legit, high profile projects.
NFTCK: Albino Farm has been playing regularly on Showtime and their sister networks. How has this positively affected your career and life?
BAB: I suppose it has been positive because people know who I am, but I am still not getting offered roles that I want just yet. As I said before, I get asked to do a lot of amateur projects or movies that just never get made. Or worse, I am told I have the part, I am on board, and then find out through Facebook that I was replaced with another actor. It’s been disheartening, really.
Personally speaking, everyone in my family has seen it and now they always ask about my future work. Even my grandpa is asking if I am still making movies. It is kind of embarrassing. I still have trouble telling people what I do for a living. Maybe because I don’t think I am successful enough yet. Or the fact that most people can’t handle Pig Bitch.
